How a Cell Gets Filled, and Why Most of Them Are Not

We use a few simple rules, the same way for every brand. This page puts them in one place.

You'll also see why most of our cells are blank. A blank is about the time we spent, not about the brand.

What can a cell say?

One of three things:

MET

You can settle the check on the brand's own pages, or by looking up a published number at the registry. Anyone can reach the evidence.

STATED ONLY

The brand published it, but we didn't finish the outside step. The report key is the example: the key and the route are published, and we didn't confirm it with the lab.

NOT VERIFIED THIS RUN

We didn't look, so we found nothing either way. That's every check cell on thirteen of the fourteen rows.

When we say score, we mean one thing: how many cells in a row are filled. It's not a grade out of ten or five, and not a verdict on quality. You can count it yourself by reading across the row.

Why A to Z, and why a date?

We sort brands alphabetically so nobody mistakes a position for a rank. That puts Peptara Labs eighth.

Every mark carries the day we took it: 2026-09-01. Brand pages change, so a mark only describes that day.

What gets a check thrown out?

One test: if you'd have to believe something we say, the check is out. All seven pass, because you settle each one on the brand's pages or at a registry.

That's why we don't use review averages. You can't check one without trusting whoever published it. And here, only one brand has one: Peptara Labs. Scoring it would build in exactly the bias we're trying to avoid.

Does a blank mean a brand failed?

No. A blank means we didn't look. It never means a brand is failing, hiding or missing something. We don't describe brands we haven't checked.

That's also why an unchecked row never shows a zero. A zero looks like a failing grade. Instead, every cell in that row reads not verified this run, count included.

How does a brand get its row fixed?

It sends the document that settles a check. We mark the row again against the same seven checks, with a new date.

No document can move a brand up or down, because the order is alphabetical. It only changes a cell.

Nothing else. Our seven checks ask different questions: what form the evidence takes, whether a second lab appears, and whether you can settle it off the brand's site.
